Chapter 1: Butterflies in the Belly

Sophie woke up on the last morning of her summer vacation. Sunlight peeked gently through the window. She felt something strange in her stomach — as if tiny butterflies were fluttering back and forth. “What’s happening to me?” she worried.

Suddenly, a wise owl named Olivia landed on her windowsill. Olivia’s big, calm eyes and soft, grey feathers looked reassuring.

“Good morning, Sophie,” she hooted softly. “I see you have butterflies in your tummy today?”

Sophie nodded quietly. “I’m so scared. School starts tomorrow. I don’t know what to expect…”

Olivia smiled kindly. “You know, everyone who begins a new school year feels those butterflies. It’s completely normal! It just means something important and new is about to begin. But don’t worry, these butterflies aren’t dangerous. I will help you — together, we’ll travel through the Land of the New School Year. You’ll learn how to make friends with your butterflies and start your new adventure feeling strong!”

Sophie felt a little better. If a wise owl was on her side, maybe things would be okay…

“Are you ready for our journey?” Olivia asked.

Sophie’s butterflies danced even faster, but she nodded. “I’m ready!”

Chapter 2: The Forest of Forgotten Skills

Sophie and Olivia entered a thick forest where every tree was decorated with leaves shaped like letters, numbers, and pictures. On one tree was the letter “S”, on another the number “5”. Happy music floated through the air.

“This is the Forest of Forgotten Skills,” Olivia explained. “Here grow all the things you’ve already learned.”

Sophie stopped by a tree shaped like the letter “A”. She remembered when she first learned to write words. Another tree sparkled with the number “7”— she already knew her multiplication table up to seven!

Suddenly, Princess Math skipped out from behind a bush, wearing a dress covered in patterns. “Hello, Sophie!” she called cheerfully. “I’m here to remind you how well you can count! Look how much you already know!”

Sophie felt proud. The trees sang, “You know so much already, don’t be afraid of the new!”

“School isn’t only about new challenges,” Olivia added, “it’s also a chance to show what you’re good at!”

Feeling confident again, Sophie continued on her journey.

Chapter 3: The Valley of New Friendships

Soon they reached the colourful Valley of New Friendships. There, they met a bunny’s sister who painted beautiful pictures, and a hedgehog who hid behind a leaf, feeling shy.

Sophie quietly approached the hedgehog. Olivia whispered, “If you want to make a new friend, smile and say ‘hi.’ You can also ask for their name — these are the magic words of friendship.”

Sophie tried: “Hi, I’m Sophie. What’s your name?”

The hedgehog peeked out from behind the leaf. “I’m Benny…”

It turned out Benny was just as nervous as Sophie. They talked about their favourite games, and before long, they became friends. More and more children and animals appeared — each one different, each with a special talent. Sophie realized that meeting new people could be fun, even if it felt hard at first.

“See?” Olivia smiled, “Everyone feels shy sometimes, but once you take the first step, the world becomes friendlier.”

Chapter 4: The Mountain of Big Challenges

Finally, Sophie, Olivia, and their new friends reached a huge mountain. A sign read: “Difficult Tasks.” The path climbed steeply, and Sophie’s butterflies fluttered again.

Olivia stopped. “You don’t have to climb alone! See, everyone has their own challenges. The trick is to break big problems into small steps, ask for help, and take breaks. Together, we can do it!”

Sophie tried: first, she climbed a small hill, then another. Benny and she helped each other when the path got tough. When they needed to, they rested and laughed, and Olivia reminded them, “Every time you beat a challenge, you get stronger!”

At last, they reached the top. There awaited the Crown of the Clever Student — proof that they managed, even when they were scared. Sophie placed it on her head and felt ready for anything school could bring.

Chapter 5: The Teacher’s Castle

Beyond the Mountain was a beautiful castle. Mr. Teacher, a wizard with a warm voice and oversized glasses, opened the door for Sophie and Olivia.

“Welcome!” he said. “You’re here to discover the magical world of learning! Come, see my library, my laboratory, my music room.”

Sophie felt a bit nervous — she used to think teachers were strict and serious. But Mr. Teacher explained things simply, showed them amazing experiments, and let them ask questions. “Teachers are here to guide you through the lands of knowledge and help you,” he explained.

Sophie realized she could trust Mr. Teacher. Whenever things got tough at school, she could always ask for help.

Chapter 6: Back to Reality with New Strength

It was time to return home. Olivia and Sophie went back together. On Sophie’s bed was a magical backpack. Inside she found a bottle of courage, a friendship compass, a map of her skills, and an amulet of calm.

“These are the treasures from your journey,” Olivia whispered. “You now have everything you need for the new school year.”

On the first morning of school, Sophie woke up with butterflies in her belly again. But this time, they danced with joy — not fear. She knew many new adventures awaited her, and she was ready.

Sophie went to school with a big smile, confident that no mountain or valley could scare her now.
